Erin Daninger
Class of 2010
Erin Daninger, who this fall will be entering her second year at the University of Minnesota, was a 2010 graduate of Forest Lake Area High School who hopes one day to teach agriculture at a Minnesota high school.
Erin was an outstanding student at Forest Lake who was able to balance a high grade point average with a wide variety of activities. She attended Forest View Elementary School beginning in first grade and eventually went on to Century Junior High and then Forest Lake Area High School.
In high school, she was a varsity volleyball player, varsity track and field captain, weight training participant and also deeply involved in the FFA program. Erin served her local FFA chapter as secretary and president, then went on to serve as regional FFA president and, in her senior year, served as state FFA secretary.
Her leadership in FFA earned her several state and national commendations and helped her chapter win several state and national awards as well. This past year, Erin was named as the 2010 winner of the national FFA Dairy Producation - Placement Proficiency Award.
As a senior, Erin was voted homecoming queen and was chosen as one of three members of the senior class to give graduation commencement speeches. Erin grew up on her family's dairy farm, Autumnwood Farm in Forest Lake. Autumnwood was founded in 1902 by Erin's great grandparents and has been operating for more than 100 years.
In 2011, Erin received yet another agriculture-related honor when she was named a Princess Kay of the Milky Way finalist.
