Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE)
Weekly Parent Child Classes
Parents and children participate in Early Childhood classes together. Most weekly classes contain the following three components:
Parents and children participate together in activities appropriate to the age and developmental level of the child.
Parents meet in a separte room with a licensed parent educator to explore topics such as child development, discipline, family interaction and other areas of interest.
Children participate independently in group activities led by an early childhood teacher to promote overall growth.
Infants 0-12 Months
Is there a new baby in your life? Want to know what to expect next? Bundle up your baby and join us! Spend some uninterrupted time with your young explorer in a safe, fun environment. Meet with other parents and discuss the joys and challenges of your child’s first year. The children stay with parents at all times, so bring your diaper bag, relax and take a break from your everyday routine. Sibling care is available for older siblings during our daytime classes only.
One is a special age! Spend time with your one-year-old and other parents who are experiencing the
same joys and struggles you are. We’ll play and learn together. The children stay with the parents at all times.
1’s and 2’s
Enjoy playing to learn with your toddler. Explore the classroom, sing songs, read books, get your fingers into art, and watch as your child discovers first friends! Connect with other parents on topics such as nutrition, the importance of play and language development.
2's & 3's
They want to know how everything works and how it affects them. Join your child in an ECFE adventure, and discover the answers together.
This class grows with your child, adding independent learning opportunities throughout the year. During the fall session this is a one day a week parent child class on Wednesdays. Beginning Jan the class adds a second day, Fridays just for children. Time on Thursdays will be extended to 9:15-11:15am and will be held in one of our preschool rooms. Sibling care is available on parent child day.
In order for a parent to give their full attention to the child registered for class, we ask that siblings are enrolled in sibling care. Sibling care fees are in addition to the regular class session fee and should be paid when you register for the class. Space is limited. You must register and pay for the entire session to be guaranteed a spot. Drop in sibling care is available as space permits. You must contact our front desk prior to bringing children for drop in care. Drop in fee is $7/hour/per child.
Cost for Weekly Parent Child classes
Classes are offered on a sliding fee scale, according to your family gross annual income. Tuition for classes will be collected at the time of registration. An additional $15 fee per quarter for those who are out-of district. Infant classes are offered free. Sibling care is available for our daytime classes.
If more than one child from the same family is enrolled in the same ECFE class, the fee for the second child is one half the fee listed (does not apply to sibling care fees).
All families are welcome. No district family will be denied participation in Family Center parent/child programs due to inability to pay. Registrations are not final until fees have been paid or other arrangements have been made. Please contact the Family Center 651-982-8300 if you have questions regarding fees.
We will continue accepting registrations on a first come first serve basis, as space permits. You may start at anytime
