The Forest Lake Chapter of the National Honor Society will be hosting the annual Ranger Have Talent Show at the Forest Lake High School. The night will be comprised of eleven acts and a student art show. All profits will go towards the Rangers Helping Rangers Fund, which helps students in need. The talent show has been rescheduled for Monday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m.
On Nov. 3, the voters of the Forest Lake Area school district voted in favor of Question #1 of the school bond. Question #2 did not pass. Rangers Supporting Rangers, a nonprofit program that aims to end childhood hunger in the Forest Lake Area School District, was mentioned in an article in the Huffington Post on Sept. 29. The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has begun construction of a roundabout at the intersection of U.S. Highway 61 and Minnesota Highway 97, near our high school, Century Junior High and the Forest Lake Area School District Office. The Lakes Area Youth Service Bureau (LAYSB) recently announced Katherine (Katie) Vasil, dean of students and licensed school counselor at Century Junior High School, and Joe Ramstad, senior at Forest Lake Area High School (FLAHS), as the adult and youth recipients of the 2014 On Behalf of Youth Award. The award recognizes community members who are positive role models to youth, help break down barriers between youth and adults, and provide enthusiastic leadership above and beyond job or volunteer duties.
